Wiltipolls are the ultimate in easy care sheep.

There is no shearing. No crutching. No muelsing. And they are fully shedding sheep.

Although Wiltipolls are ideally suited to the small acreage farmer they are just as valuable to the commercial 'prime lamb' producer.

Perhaps the best use of Wiltipolls in a prime lamb situation, is the crossing of a Wiltipoll ram with say merino ewes in order to produce first cross ewe lambs (as well as rams that would be castrated & finished for market). These first cross Wiltipoll ewes will have the tremendous benefit of outstanding hybrid vigour because the genetic make up of the Wiltipoll and the Merino is so vastly different.

These first cross Wiltipoll ewes are the ideal prime lamb producers. If crossed with another Wiltipoll ram or even a Dorset, Border Leicester or Dorper ram, the resulting lambs will be just about the very best prime lamb.
